GENERAL DESCRIPTION

SHORTWAVE BROADCAST, HORIZONTAL POLARIZATION - LPH-0606

photo Antenna Products Corporation LPH-0606 Applications

The LPH-0606 shortwave broadcast antenna is a horizontally polarized, broadband log-periodic design which operates over the frequency range of 3-18 MHz. It is designed to handle two 100 kW transmitters simultaneously at two different operating frequencies. Diplexers for combining two transmitters on a single transmission line are not a part of the antenna.

Features

The radiating structure consists of a series of broadband dipoles emanating from a common apex. The structure lies in an ideal plane that is inclined with respect to ground and is supported between two rear towers and three front poles. Each dipole element is made of a caged-wire configuration in which four equally spaced wires are attached to a 10" diameter corona ring to form a cylindrical radiator. The dipoles are fed along the center of the structure from a 4-wire, side connected balanced feeder line. Three front poles are provided to support the front end of the antenna. The two outboard poles are used to terminate the catenaries and the center pole is used to terminate the centrally located feeder. The support equipment includes guy cables for the front poles. The input impedance of the antenna is 120 ohm balanced. A suitable transformer such as the TXF-0106 can be used to transform the 120 ohm to 300 ohm where the antenna can be fed from a suitable 300 ohm balanced transmission line such as the TXL-300/2.
