GENERAL DESCRIPTION

SHORTWAVE BROADCAST, HORIZONTAL POLARIZATION - LPH-0612

photo Antenna Products Corporation LPH-0612 Applications

The LPH-0612 is a horizontally polarized, log periodic antenna designed for shortwave broadcast use. The antenna provides a directive beam at an elevation angle of 40° above the horizon that is ideal for short- to medium-range HF skywave circuits. The antenna is designed for 250 kW carrier power and it will handle 375 kW average power and 1000 kW PEP. It operates over the 5.85-22 MHz frequency band and has a VSWR of less than 1.5:1.

Features

The log periodic design uses caged elements to accommodate the transmitter power. The RF connections are galvanically compatible and corona rings are used at element extremities to minimize RF corona and voltage breakdown problems.

Characteristics

The LPH-0612 is a log periodic design which operates over the frequency range of 5.85-22 MHz. It provides a nominal gain over perfect ground of 10 dBi at an elevation angle of 40° above the horizon. The antenna has a characteristic impedance of 200 ohm which is transformed to 300 ohm through the use of a balanced tapered line transformer. The input VSWR of the antenna and tapered line transformer is 1.5:1 maximum.
